Is Dredge's decklist vanilla?

So I was milling through my cards and wondered what kind of deck I wanted to build next.  I thought about doing a sweet T1 (Vintage) deck, but didn't know who still played that because some of the rules are broken as heck!  So I decided to do a T 1.5 (Legacy), and figured that would be best.  I then decided that I hadn't made a dredge deck yet, so I decided to throw one together quick.  Once I was satisfied with my card selection I play tested with my manager, and he played his dredge deck.  I was blown away; not because his was much better than mine, but because our decks were identical... we hadn't copied each other or anything, but completely randomness.

So my question is this; Is there really any way to recreate a dredge deck, with completely different cards then someone else?  I know that the majority of cards used in dredge are pretty standard, and there are the fatties that can be different depending on your meta, but I don't see how it can be much different than what you see online...

Am I a netdecker? lmao

If you're watching videos for concepts of play instead of just play testing your deck constantly and adjusting from experience: you might be a net decker

Well I'm not doing that, I just thought because out of the blue my deck is almost identical to my Manager's (Also level 2 DCI certified Area judge).  Needless to say he is expert...

I didn't know if this was common, because dredge doesn't have a lot of cards to really choose from, if you want a good deck... or did I do something wrong? haha

If you only have so many cards to choose from you're most likely to end up with similar ideas

That's not the problem... I can get pretty much any card.. (my store).

I have looked on Gatherer, and that's all I could come up with...

That's what he means, if the pool of cards that are good in a dredge deck isn't that large, chances are good you'll have very similar decks as someone else if you're both experienced players/good deckbuilders.

Oh I see. Of course. He's much better than I am, so I'm sure he would play it better than I would.

I just have to play test like crazy.

I was just hoping to hear someone has a dredge that isn't the norm, but works.

No. I have city of brass
Manaless dredge is pretty good, too, if you're interested in checking out other dredge subtypes.

What could I mainboard then?

I have some draw/discard cards that I use.

I have lions diamond, but that can only work for so much. I mainly use it for flash backing.

LED works amazingly with {Infernal Tutor}, but that's for combo decks. Basically your main deck is like {Bridge from Below}, {Flayer of the Hatebound}, etc and some guys that can recur themselves. I forget the exact list, but you can always tweak the netdeck to make it more original.

I first used flayer, and it works extremely well, but I like to throw in Iona as well to stump my opponent.

I <3 dredge. I had an LED-less legacy dredge deck that I had to part out to pay for a ticket :(

I may rebuild it one day and add the LED's.

Iona works REALLY well in a Reanimator list. T1 Swamp, {Dark Ritual}, {Entomb}, {Reanimate}
Although {Griselbrand} is normally in that slot, Iona works really well too.
