{mana web} anyone? This was the whole reason it was printed. To screw people over and kill them quicker with their own lands

nooo mana burn penalized excess mana not extra tapped lands.

Dudecore

Design has been pushing for creatures a lot lately, and to reach a broader market. The game is obviously not built exclusively around older players, with tons of money that play legacy or vintage.

It makes for a slightly more difficult  experience, and mana burn never bothered me. I often don't lose by 1 life. But now that it's gone its still a fun game, and it's just a clunky old mechanic.

Omg I'm glad they stoped that 0.0

BlackJester

it made some cards better, others worse.  You pretty much can't play {Omnath, Locus of Mana} in our group.  One {Doom Blade} and you're taking a huge mana burn.

What's mana burn?
Read the thread it's answered early on.

I've never had to deal with mana burn, but I kinda have mixed feelings about it. Seems like you would have to think twice about that {Braid of Fire} in your hand.

Thats why that card was fair at one point, but now it's stupid broken.

Stupid broken?  You can only use the mana on your upkeep. It's pretty good, but I don't know about broken.

Having exact mana was never really an issue but I can understand why Wizards got rid of it. Also, if I didn't want someone to beat me and I was at below 5 life or whatever, I'd just burn myself to death denying my opponent the win. Lol some of my group would do that too to avoid a "loss". Just the "you didn't beat me!! I killed myself!!!" hahaha

It just force taps the lands. Doesn't add extra mana.

I miss manaburn. Made for better game play IMO.

Really?  What makes you say that?  I'd like to hear some supporting arguments for burn.

Willthomjr

I don't see how it made the game any better....really.  I played in 6-7-8 edition and it was kind of a mistake here and there but players were conscious of it.  Even today..you don't see many players tapping extra lands for the heck of it.
