Ieatfood7

We have new episodes after a CRIMINALLY long hiatus.

We have rebooted the show, not repeating ourselves (or our sponsors) but hitting the intro topics again.  The old episodes were a bit more dated than expected, and this way I can improve the audio.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy!  the links to our new host and to itunes are below.  We will have one short farewell episode hosted on mtgcast (uploading asap), so that everyone knows to follow us to our new feed.

As always, requests and suggestions are welcome, as is spreading the word to anyone looking to learn more about Legacy!

Cheers!

-Jamie

Sweet! I hope you enjoy it.

We have learned a lot about sound editing since the first 5 episode run. I'm still unhappy with the sound quality, but it's worlds better than it was.

The real struggle is to stay fresh and on point without skipping or being repetitive. Since we already did these intro topics once, it's a struggle.

I'll listen again of course!

You guys need some cover art though.

I've got a topic for you:

While everyone clamored for a DTT ban, U/W miracles, which was already considered by many to be the "Best Deck" made up a large portion of the meta. With the DTT ban, miracles (and to a lesser extent, shardless) is still the "Best Deck" but the tool for other decks to compete has been removed. Miracles now makes up nearly 20% (!!) of the legacy meta. Where do we go from here? Are the options really just "play miracles or play bug"? Will Wizards continue to chase it's tail with these reactive bannings? Thoughts?

Finally got the time to listen to your first episode. Interesting, but I got one little comment. One guy was snickering when you did the "commercial". It would be nice to not have that. The joke was fun, yeah, but it's like the guy who is laughing at his own joke while telling it.

Thanks for the feedback. I always do the sponsors and don't tell drew what I'm doing ahead of time. It was intended as effectively "live studio audience" laughter sort of thing. We will probably keep it, but I will keep that in mind.

Fair warning, I maaaaay crack up myself full on Nimmy Falon style in episode three. After trying it three times, we just went with it. Unsure why but I just couldn't help myself.

We have cover art...is it not showing? Black and white with a picture of the LegacyWrapon ship?

That is a good point. We don't try to be too close to the monthly meta game (yet) since neither of us are grinders and our audience is not all at that level yet, but this is a great topic. Maybe we will see how this weekend's legacy GP plays out. This may make its way into our mailbag episode (tentitively set for episode ten, so stay patient), or maybe sooner depending how this GP goes.

And there has been talk of banning Top, which would cut the legs from miracles. We will see.

MuggyWuggy

Banning top? That's silly and I despise playing against top

Kaylesh

Wouldn't top just be replaced by {scroll rack} or  {Crystal Ball}? It's worse, but scry on upkeep to fix your draw still can be done.

Mr_Fahrenheit

Yeah it doesnt solve any of the perceived problems with the deck. And not going to get into it, as that would involve hijacking the thread, but i dont believe there is a problem. Its just a synergystic deck that is efficient and does what it is meant to do. It isnt oppressive, and the fact that it sometimes means unintentional draws is not a factor that makes a particular card banworthy or not. And, like was mentioned, there are similar alternatives. Top is just the best at it.

Falcon182

Banning counterbalance would be better I think, except from an "amount of game time spent on one thing" perspective. Many other decks use top and it doesn't give the feelbads like it does in miracles.

Ieatfood7

I don't mind the thread shifting (I'll post a new thread for the next episode next week)

So, miracles is a deck I like existing (despite being a terrible matchup for me). Control has a place.

That said, if it's too dominant it should be downgraded. Yes, it has other option that are weaker...that's the point. No one wants miracles unplayable, but some want it weaker. It can work with those and brainstorm and whatever. So this is a way to need it without killing it (not saying I agree, just explaining the position).

The other thing is that top takes a long time. Games are already bogged down enough with fetchlands and shuffling. This is just another thing. Especially when a newer player pilots the deck. Bad feels all around (again, I'm just Devils advocating). This is the same idea, sort of, on banning second sunrise in modern. It was slow and boring to play against.

MuggyWuggy

Disagree, I look at top as a challenge to get around and normally keeping their board clear and resources limited, and forcing them to counter something then playing the real threat is the best overall strat I've found. I play bug so maybe my match up is better than the average deck

Falcon182

I still say  {Counterbalance} is the problem. Not top.

Mr_Fahrenheit

I honestly dont even think there is a problem. The deck is not oppressive, its not unbeatable and saying it is a problem for new players to pilot, well the solution there is new players shouldn't be playing an eternal format without practise for one, and secondly, just because people struggle with certain parts of the game doesn't mean the cards are at fault and need to be banned. Those people need to get more proficient with their decks. Time should not be a factor, as if you choose to play legacy you should understand that this can happen sometimes. The same can be said for magic in general, not just legacy.
