Which seems really lackluster

Sure late game it's a cute mana sink, but 5 mana... Nah if it were like 3 mana and had a bigger drawback it woulda been cute

I think I can see it work in a UB control shell.
Too bad {Jorubai Murk Lurker} rotates out though.
But with {sphynx's tutelage}, Jace, and all the other mill things, UB control mill could be a thing.

I don't think a control shell cares about a crappy creature that would be better spent on a card, a lot of the times the control deck doesn't even want cheap creatures because they don't want the opponent able to interact with their board generally.

And if it get through it gets one card per turn... Just. No.

Means I won't be attacked aggressively

Ummm, did everyone miss the "enemy manlands" announcement? I'm like, pooping myself over here. Also, a 3{W}{W} destroy all non-land creatures and the other two planeswalkers. And now that esper gets basically all the mana, you can believe I will be using {Ojutai's Command} to rebuy Deep Sea Scavenger. That card is value-town, I pretty much love it.
