How about you leave him banned/unbanned and ditch the rules baggage? The only reason for a wholesale change of rules would be to increase interactivity and fun. Changing the way tutors work, changing the way fast mana works, changing the way {confiscate} effects work and adding a broken card don't strike me as positive changes.

Take a look at the French Duel Commander rules. In an attempt to make 1v1 Commander fair, some people came up with a different ban list. If your group wants to play {Griselbrand} and friends, you should try it out! In French Commander, you can even have Griseldaddy as your commander. Players start at 30 life in Duel Commander, but you might want to change that to 40 if you play with those rules in a multiplayer game. Good luck!

While I agree that the Duel Commander banlist is certainly a great option if your playgroup is unhappy with WotC's banlist, don't forget you can also create your own banlist with the best of both. Personally, I feel that {upheaval} is broken in multiplayer, so I might add that to the french list.

I feel like the bribery rule isn't good. If people can bribery for him people will be more hesitant to run an overpowered card like that

These rules are just for my friends. In a setting where we have new players, we won't run any banned cards.

I just feel like any 8+ drop will win you the game. And with the "Activate Griselbrand only once a turn" is basically like {Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur}, which I've thought about running instead of Serra Avatar in place of Grisel
