Not sure if this is the right place, but recently I wanted to run {Griselbrand} in my EDH deck. He is on the ban list. But EDH is a casual format, and I wanted to see if there was a way to make the ban list playable. I set up some different rules, I'm curious if people think this is fair.

1.) You cannot Tutor for any banned cards or infinite combos. (Ex. {Demonic Tutor}, {Diabolic Tutor})

2.) You must pay the cards Converted Mana Cost, and cannot cheat them out even through {Omniscience}. (Ex. {Elvish Piper}, {Kaalia of the Vast}

2.5) No {Bribery}ing those creatures either

3.) {Griselbrand}'a ability may only be activated on your own turn and only once during those turns.

4.) When any Banned card is under your control, at the end of your draw step you must discard a card or else exile the banned card.

Any other rules or Erratas you guys could think of? This is just for casual play with friends

You can also ban using certain cards together in a combo/synergy if one of them is banned. i.e. {Horizon Chimera} + {Griselbrand}

Honestly

Given grisels ability
You're essentially getting to tutor your deck for life

So I feel asking people can't tutor is a little silly when you choose to use a banned commander

This would be my reasoning against you if we were in a playgroup. I have to reconstruct my deck due you not liking tutors, but you cn have a banned commander. Seems one sided ya know?

He isn't a commander, just a card in the deck

That goes against the entire idea of the alternate rules proposed here...

I'm saying all banned cards must be naturally played and cannot be tutored for

I understand what you are saying... But what I am saying is the natural progression that I believe a playgroup will head towards if you allow them or if you play with banned cards...

the whole reason that  {Panoptic Mirror} is banned is because almost no one can resist the idea of putting a  {Time Warp} on it.

The same thing goes for almost all the banned cards. They aren't necessarily banned simply because of what they do, but because they potentially (inevitably) will destroy the format.

For instance, what (other than the honor system) can guarantee that I didn't tutor up the banned card with a tutor that doesn't require me to reveal the card that I tutored.

Do you have 100% faith that your playgroup can maintain their integrity?

I trust my play group. And any obvious abuses with commanders cannot be tutored for or cheated out. If they get it, they get it though.

He would have to have an added "Exile Griselbrand" tacked onto his activated ability cost in order for me to be okay with him in the game - he's broken and no matter how he gets on the field, if he does that game is over. No fun. But if that ability were a one-time-use only, and got rid of him forever? It would just be like a {Sign in Blood} on hyper-steroids. That would still be good but not ruin the game.
