Now, a proxy tournament...that is truly disgraceful in my eyes. There are just so many things wrong with that idea. When there is a prize on the table, and proxies are allowed, it's just about going online and proxying up what will win, especially in legacy. I know a guy who liquidated his entire standard collection to foil out his affinity deck, and I think it would actually be disrespectful to him if my LGS allowed proxies in their modern tourneys we have once a month.
Yeah, I never go to that shop (for obvious reasons) the owner is terrible. Those tourneys aren't Dci sanctioned, (pretty sure anyway but who knows) and prizes are involved. People with no proxies pay 5$ and proxy players pay 8$ I think. That's basically what I found so absurd. 3$ and I can show up with a 2k deck? Why would anyone work to get cards if they can just build any old deck.

I use proxies to test deck ideas. Never in EDH though, that's not what that format is about, IMO.

I don't really play that often at my lgs but if someone was using proxies and didnt have the real cards...idc if they are trying to get them or not...I don't think I'd let them play them. I've spent alot of money and time cunstructing the decks I play and would find it completely unfair for someone to use a proxy bc let's face it, you don't see many proxies of cheap cards.

Proxies generally arent allowed in a tournament setting. Noah and I don't use proxied decks for anything other than play testing. No point in shelling out major bucks for a deck that may not work.

Exactly. That's the only time where proxies should be used.

I like proxies.
I have the money to buy cards, but my friends dont, so i let tem use proxies, no matter what.
The fun is in the game, not in the money.

Who talks bad about proxies and download movies/songa must have .poo. in the head.

My standard is double sleeved because I dont want to proxy all my shocks and stuff like that but i will proxy to test my deck and my playgroup is ok if you tell them its proxied and they say ok. I like it when my friends use proxies because then I can play against new decks and be competetive. After all thats what you should expect at a tournament and it's good to be prepared.

In my opinion, using proxies(99% of the time) is a bunch of crap. The only exception for me would be play testing BY YOURSELF! This is true because (since 40% of the playin I do is casual) when I play you, I'm not going to lose to a stupid piece I paper when I actually worked, waited, and paid for every single one of my cards. Again, one HUGE part of the game is being unable to obtain certain cards. What would be the point in rarities, prices, or the goodness level of cards if you could just print urself out a playset of {tarmogoyf} and {dark confidant} for modern?!?!?!!!?? An even when play testing by yourself, I always think it is at least ten times better to use a deck running app (like my personal favorite Decked Builder).
Well in conclusion, I am 99% against proxies, an although it may not seem like I provided good enough ideas to back up my thoughts, I could go on and on with more reasons. I tried to condense it as much as possible.

I think this true, but I also am OK with proxies if its casual and you want to see if you should get the actual cards. That is my I my exception .
