Our FNM has two tourneys, one Modern and one standard which is pretty sweet. Both fill up decently. Currently I've lent my affinity deck out to a buddy and he's won every fnm for the last 6 weeks except for last week where I was in the finals with a grisel reanimator and lost t2 both games. Was vicious! Other than that our modern fnm decks we play against are as so
A few home brew new kids we help Life gain home brew Bogles tier Boros burn tier Wilted Abzan tier Affinity tier Infect tier Splinter twin tier Bug delver 8 rack Griselbrand Reanimafor Very tough Vampire home brew My wilted abzan(two of us) Tomorrow will be my first time playing my bloom Titan deck I finally got all the cards for this week and I'm super excited! It'll be sweet!!!
The only thing our meta is missing is players who play Goyfs which is a pain because when our team goes to pptq's that's our biggest obstacle!
I love FNM probably my favorite aspect of magic, a bunch of friendly people getting together and just having a good time

I've been running NyxWave for five events now, four back in High Point, which runs both standard and modern every week, and once back home in Durham, where modern and standard trade off from week to week. In High Point, I've Top 8'd twice and scrubbed out twice, while two weeks ago I placed 3rd in Durham, going 4-1.
As far as Metas, back at school you find pretty much everything. Between the thirty or so modern players at the store, we see everything from home brew to Abzan to Burn to infect. Infect is the only deck there that consistently gives me trouble.
Back in Durham we have about fifteen or so players on a Modern night, where we have a few brews, but mostly tier 1-2 with skilled players. From what I've seen, the Meta mostly looks like: NyxWave (myself) Affinity Abzan, in all Flavors (Rhino and Wilted) BW Tokens RW Norin Storm UW Polymorph TinFins And lots of others I can't remember right now.
The most fun part is adding more Infect hate to the Side for School, then seeing absolutely no infect back in Durham.
Tonight went really well! 4-1 to 3rd overall with NyxWave
Round 1: MonoB Stuff Nothing to concerning, just someone that wanted to play with a fair pile of cards he had. Typhoid Rats, LifeBane Zombies and Desecration Demons. Easy 2-0
Round 2: Twin Lost to a fellow Judge after making some play mistakes post-board. Was fine though, since he went on to split for 13 points and gave me sweet breakers. Lost 0-2.
Round 3: Ad Nauseum This one was fun. He got game one. Game two, I landed a Spellskite off of a Wave the turn before he went off. He discarded enough lands to kill me, so I paid two to redirect. He drops a land, I paid two. This goes back and forth until I'm at two. Discard a forest to redirect to him, and amazingly he didn't have any more lands in hand. Game three ended with a Boseiju'd Chord for Prime Time on the end of his turn 3. That game ended fast. 2-1
Round 4: TinFins Game 1, I land a fairly early prime time. He Breaches an Emrakul that proceeds to eat most of my board, though I chumped with a Bird and was left with a Sprawl land, Nykthos and Wolf run. He died soon after. Game 2, I land an early ooze to mess with him, and he bricks hard on drawing 14 from GBrand. Opponent explodes because he forgot that Garruk Wildspeaker Overruns at 4. Got it 2-0
Round 5: Abzan Midrange Game 1 I land a turn 3 Titan that just provides too much advantage for him to overcome. Game 2, he pulses a trio of Emissaries I pooped out turn 2, paving the way to him rolling over me. Game 3, I just Out-Midrange him, Waving for most of my deck, then Primal commanding three lands back on top to ensure there were no outs. Got it 2-1
My performance was lack luster well i should say i performed well but the deck just kept feeding me lands and i run 19 lands!
I piloted Grixis Delver
Match 1 Boros Burn 0-2 This guys was literally on nuts hands both games and I coukd not stop his combo of fast creatures with steady burn.
Match 2 Infect 2-0 He was a young kid but he piloted his deck well. I jut ended up with great hands and put out T2 Tasigur in the second game.....so that was cool.
Match 3 Mirror 2-0 This dude literally rage quit both games after i flipped delver both games T2 and just proceeded to protect, deny, and beat face.
Match 4 Zombie aggro home brew 0-2 I played this guy before and he does moderately well with this deck. I was surprised i did not sneak in 1 win but i just could not get a threat on the board. Game 1 he had some good targeted removal and just overwhelned me with zombos. Game 2 i brought in more creature support and GY hate but none of that showed up.....in fact we went to like T8 and all i could draw was instant, sorc, and land......the 1 creature i drew came on the last draw before he was swinging in for game.
I still had fun and picked up my 2 boxes of MM2015 i ordered from that store and i am not opening. I traded for a bunch of good stuff though. I got:
Emmy Foil fulminator mage and regular Foil remand Hurkyks Recall Foil Tasigur All is dust Bitterblossum
My modern Meta looks like this. U/R Delver (me, SCREW GRIXIS DELVER) B/W Tokens (Kaalia with haste) 5 color zoo Grixis Delver/Jund Midrange (DimirOverlord) The guy who runs the store playing whatever he feels like. G/R Scapeshift Affinity Twin Mono Blue Tron Wilted Abzan Bogles G/R Tron Storm Norin Sisters And a few junk brews.

Simon doesn't play scapeshift anymore, I'm pretty sure it's just straight valakut trap
I'm hosting a modern event this Friday. I'll try to provide a tournament report from my perspective. Dimir and the_intelligentleman will hopefully do the same.
Round 1: play against a guy who's pretty new to the game but has been sinking a ton of money into his own decks that are pretty bad to be honest.. Cards I saw: mana morphose, Sarkhan vol, bloodghast, thrun, creak wood liege, sylvan caryatid, Dromoka's command. Anyways here's how the games went:
Game one: he started off with 2 bloodghasts but I hit him twice with hero of bladehold before he threw down a hero's downfall. He was dead from a top decked intangible virtue, but I would've gotten there anyways, albeit a turn slower. Pretty simple stuff.
Game 2: now this was a game, best game I've played in a while honestly. He led on some disruption spells like Thoughtseize and duress, but i had some of my own so neither of us did a whole lot early, until I had a flashbacked lingering souls and an intangible virtue out. I get in for 4 and he untaps with thrun, I'm still winning the race so I'm happy. I draw brimaz, king kitty. I bash for four and in second main play brimaz, he untaps with a creak wood liege and a desecration demon. I was actually pretty frightened to be honest, I was in some trouble. I go to my draw step and peel my one copy of zealous persecution that I added this morning and do some math. If he blocked like I anticipated the whole board would be gone with the exception of two of my spirits. He blocked exactly like I figured and zealous persecution has earned a bump up to two copies because of that moment. He draws and passes. I draw hero of bladehold and ended the game like that. The game was much better than it sounds, it was pretty darn close if it weren't for persecution it was clear I'd have won. 2-0
Match 2: the mirror match
I played against a tokens mirror, but our 60 were pretty mismatched. He opted for tidehollow sculler over Thoughtseize for reasons I don't know. Game one I was on the draw, which was actually to my benefit. He dropped a turn 4 hero of bladehold, I drew my own hero of bladehold, and pathed his. I won that game because I don't think he ran path to exile, I honestly didn't expect hero to stick but it did and it ended the game pretty nicely.
Game 2: I go to fetch and he's got an aven mindcensor, my lands 3-4 and maybe more were all fetch lands so I was in a right spot, I lost to a hero of bladehold and not finding a land off either of my fetches. I did almost nothing that game
Game 3: I have no recollection of this for some reason. But I won apparently so the match was 2-1 me.
Match 3: game one, I kept a hand light on interaction and was super-punished by two cranial platings being on his only creature, ornithopter. Woops.
Game 2, I resolved turn 2 stony silence but I couldn't find anything to race his 2 etched champions that had metal craft active. 0-2
Match 4: I was paired against burn. Game one, burn spells out the ass.. I resolved a lingering souls and a hero of bladehold but it didn't matter because I was dead before I could untap with it.
Game 2, I ended up resolving a timely reinforcements on turn 3. I then played a spectral procession and a sorin solemn visitor over the next two turns and he couldn't come back.
Game 3 was really right, but towards the end the burn player FORGOT TO ATTACK with his goblin guide, I played sorin and he got super punished by me gaining 6 life off my spectral procession tokens.
2-1
Overall went 3-1 with my only loss being to the guy who got first, the event was only 11 people with me taking 3rd overall.
Round 1- He was a young kid playing slivers I took it 2-0 not much to say here, I coached him and helped him understand the game a bit better. 2-0
Round 2- first game I won with hive mind combo t4, second he burned me when I refused to mull down to get leyline, 3rd game I mulled to leyline and won. 2-1
Round 3- RG tron, pretty simple matchup for me game 1 hive mind combo, game 2 didn't mull and couldn't pull a land that wasn't a bounce land so I lost, game 3 t2 Titan that's that pretty much. 2-1
Round 4- drew in.
Top 8 Round 1- He was running mono blue mill, beat him easily first game, lost second for refusing to mull to leyline of sanctity, game 3 dropped leyline and he scooped
Round 2- burn again same guy, 2-0
Round 3- RG tron same guy g1 hive mind combo, g2 he had too many wurmcoils out he won quick, G3 prime time t2 then hive mind t3 with summoner pact.
I won 1st it was only an 11 man tourney but was fun.
