I don't really play commander and I have no experience at building one but I think a land hate deck could be really powerful.

Yea they are. They are also most effective if you wait until slightly later in the game to demolish people's land it's kinda just like a "hey you can't play anything anymore! I win!"

Lol yea most likely but from my experiences people wait for stuff like that and just counter it I know I do

Land hate is probably the most hated thing in the format. {Sundering Titan} was recently banned for too being too powerful of a "make everyone stop having fun" card.

If you use a land hate deck, expect to die first. The whole table will target you. People will let threats likes {kozilek, butcher of truth} go uncountered and unkilled just so they can watch it annihilate the land hater before getting rid of it.
