By the time it is turn 3, it won't matter how much a 1/1 with infect is pumped because an opponent would almost certainly have at least a 1/1 out to block it.

Like I said. Pumps with trample.

Have you ever played legacy?

Most competitive legacy decks end turn 3-5. If you can't win by then you scoop. That's usually how it works.

So basing a deck on how fast it kills doesn't make it bad. I'm saying how easy it is to use infect doesn't really make me have much respect for it.

sure infect essentially halves the game of magic. but all the cards that wizard printed were for the most part weak and very fair.

Even a 1/1 with three giant growths is weak and fair?

me thinks a 4 card win is much more fair than a 2 card win {splinter twin}

Coffee Vampire

Last time I checked we were talking about giant growth...which doesn't give trample.

It feels like we are just playing a game of magic on the internet to see if something is op or not...

"I win in half as mich time with infect = OP!"
"But U need win fast!"
"I pump 1/1 with buffs!"
"I block with a 1/1!"
"I give my creature trample!"

I mean...seriously. You are just saying the ideal ways to win with infect and I am just saying ways to counter those strategies. We are not really discussing anything important or contributing to the original poster's thread. I say we call this little argument quits, or you may start a new infect discussion thread.

Like I Said. Please reAd all of my posts

he already claimed that giant growth was his generic term for cheap pump effect.

Infect decks really aren't that OP at all.  You have to be able to back up your creatures if the game takes too long, but most creatures that have infect and can actually defend well are (for the most part) garbage and will get themselves killed and protect you for maybe one or two turns.  But, having a way to kill them by turn two or three isn't really all that easy.  Giving them {Mutagenic Growths} + {Ghostform} (can't remember the name of the 1 mana cost card that gives them unblockable), etc is a good strategy, but you would have to stack your deck to be able to draw a perfect hand with cards like that in it every time.  You can't just will the right cards to be in your opening hand.  The are some pretty OP infect cards like Skittles and Blightsteel, but note the mana cost of Blightsteel.  It's easy to build a deck around him and make him the win condition ({Shape Anew}), but that requires a deck based around drawing cards to get Shape anew.  I know I'm probably just restating what most people have already said and that this is probably too long for a lot of people to care about, but, in a nutshell, infect really isn't that OP.  Last time I was at my local card shop, I watched a decent infect deck get trashed by a Delver deck twice in a row.  I honestly think infect is a bit underappreciated in the shadow of Delver, Wolfrun, etc.

Like I said, let's pack our bags and set up a white picket fence in a new thread. You can argue there if you would like.

edit: There. I made a thread. Knock yourself out.

{artful dodge}? Lol and omg why my deck has so many post!?

Coffee Vampire

Because I have no self control and can't avoid an argument lol

But seriously, it looks like a fine deck...I wish I could ctrl v it to my deck builder so I could run some sample draws.

It's actually my buddys deck, it's pretty much the one that keeps beating me -.-

Coffee Vampire

Ohoho! That's wonderful...even better, actually! Let's try to make a deck to beat it then! >:) Before I start mapping things out though, we need to consider some things:

1) budget: what is the cash limit or how much are you willing to trade?

2) purpose: does it only need to beat this deck, or should it be able to hold its own against other decks (fairly well at least) while still fighting off the infect

3) format: does your buddy mind if you use non standard to beat him? More importantly: will you live with yourself knowing it took a non standard deck to beat a standard one?

4) where to start: edit a current deck or start anew?

And don't feel bad btw...he probs just stole this deck from someone else or the internet! ;)

This may be true, but infect creatures are typipically (<-- emphasis on not always) weaker than other creatures or have things that make them not as good, see {phyrexian hydra}, see {putrefax}
I would have to agree with you. The most common downside to infect creatures would have to be cmc vs strength and toughness. They raised mana cost so it wasn't to broken.

Elitehalo360

I updated and discussed it with my friend and I molded this to more of my style of play :) got the sideboard down too

Yeah that's why green is a must when building an infect deck
