I personally like the "Realistic Texture Pack"

Windows:

1) Open up %appdata%, if you don't know how to do this, start>run, then type in %appdata%
2) Browse to .minecraft/texturepacks
3) Place your .zip folder in it.

Mac:

1)Go to Library>Application Support>minecraft>texture packs
2) Place your .zip folder in it.

Try using minecraft4kids. It makes it look like a comic
