How do I do the math when I gain life with multiple {rhox faithmender}s on the battlefield?

Say I have 3 out and gain 5 life from something. Do I gain:
(5x2)+(5x2)+(5x2)=30
Or
5x2=10, 10x2=20, 20x2=40

You will stack them, and as they resolve, they will count the previous resolved triggers. So, you would gain 5, then the first resolves (sees 5), and tells you "have another 5", then the second resolves (seeing 10 life being gained), and says, "10? I think you deserve 20", finally, the last will resolve (sees 20), and says "Happy Birthday, 40 life for you"!

Small errata: they don't stack, they replace. Otherwise, two of these would get infinite life since they'd keep triggering off the life gained.
