alright I'll admit I'm having a brain fart. So with {tasigur the golden fang}'s ability put on the stack if he is killed I do not get the card from the grave and the ability is countered right? And I still mill the 2 cards.

Once you activate his ability, you still get a card back even if he is dead, you could actually get a tasigur back if your GY is nasty enough

Actually happened to me at a draft 2 weeks ago. I had an empty yard because I cast tasigur and my opp cast  {Murderous Cut} On it in response to my ability activation because he thought the ability fizzled. Ironically I milled two lands and got him back
