Is {ugin the spirit dragon} an almost insta-add in any EDH deck or what do you guys think about him in that format?

Spencer Addington

He is (imo) one of the best if not the best planeswalker's ever printed for EDH.

Spikepit

Short answer: Yes.

Depends on the deck. I cannot run him in my Nekusar deck, as he is counter-productive to what I have going on...

Three damage a turn and a board wipe isn't bad. You don't need the ult for him to be good.

Yea my nekusar is so good right now, thanks to your list ;), and I feel kinda the same way.

I love him for a board wipe alone, especially the exile part. So many decks abuse one thing or another and this simply wipes them away.

1st Fate Reforged booster I opened I got a foil one 😀

On topic. Yea he's pretty amazing for EDH

Rass

I'm surprised no silly ramp doubling season lists yet.

Good to hear that! I've switched up my list (just haven't posted it yet).
Reasoning behind Ugin not being in a Nekusar deck is that Nekusar usually runs a lot of enchantments that are enablers for us. By using Ugin as a wipe, I believe that we hurt ourselves more than we hurt the opponents.

The turn clock decrease and health distraction don't really outway that. I see what you're saying.

Travis woo actually has done that. It's jace aot ultimate into aot into aot (grabbing your opponents best stuff every time) into a one of ugin ultimate into a bunch more walkers.

I've seen this deck play and it felt like a new twist on eggs. But interesting concept. And it seriously took all five turns after going to turns for it to win.
