That is cool with me.

Yeah, Doug Beyer hinted at this a while ago.

I think its great that WotC is trying to display more non traditional characters such as nonbinaries, trangenders, and homosexuals.

I also like the fact that they didn't just say "hey look, we support the LGBT community with this character, love us America!" And instead actually wove it into the storyline really well

I think it's really cool.

They aren't really going very far, they are including characters that can identify with their users.

Remember sparkle ninja or whatever his/her name was?

There is an audience that appreciates this, yet most of them stay away from events due to how they are treated by other players (who themselves aren't the most desirable either by societies standards)

Transgendered people are finally having a space in time where they are not ridiculed and shunned by the whole society and gender identity is now becoming a discussion taken seriously.

I showed this to my (transgender) boyfriend of several months who is kinda into magic and he thought it was incredible. As a highly active member of the lgbt community I think this is a cool move by wizards, and looking back in 10 years this will hopefully be nothing exciting, and just be the accepted. 60 years ago just the fact that the leader was a  FEMALE warrior would piss people off, this should be no different.

What I think is great about the whole is not that they did it, but that they didn't make a big deal out of it. It's a society of life these days. Magic often emulates parts of society. To me it's not a big deal, to them it's not a big, it's just the way it is. The way it should be. Good on them.

Exactly.
