 {Ruric Thar, the Unbowed} ability says he deals the damage. If he is my commander is that damage count as commander damage?

Prplprince

Second question can I kill myself with my own commander damage?

1st question, answering the second as well as far as Ruric goes. Commander damage can only be dealt through combat damage, his non creature 6 damage is a triggered ability, it is not damage dealt by him strictly through combat.

{Ruric Thar, the Unbowed}

No, because commander damage is only combat damage dealt by commanders. So the damage doesn't relate to commander just regular.
On the second question, yes you can die from your own commander damage, by someone (or multiple people) taking control of your commander and swinging at you with him.

1st question, answering the second as well as far as Ruric goes. Commander damage can only be dealt through combat damage, his ditch land deal 3 is an activated ability, it is not damage dealt by him strictly through combat.

{Ruric Thar, the Unbowed}

Your thinking of {borborgymos enraged}. You cannot discard lands to {ruric thar, the unbowed}.

Oh sh💩t, my bad. Well same thing here, his damage is sourcing from a triggered ability. Sorry guys. Editing.
