wouldnt eidolon end up killing me faster then the opponent

No, because 3 damage to them (from your bolt) kills the them faster than 2 damage to you per bolt if things are working well.

No, because 3 damage to them (from your bolt) kills the them faster than 2 damage to you per bolt if things are working well.

true but if i cast a bolt to kill a creature to keep myself alive then i would kill myself i dont think i want to risk it

You put a 2/2 on a clear board and they either have to take 2 dmg to get rid of it or they take 2 dmg per turn from attacks. It's effective.

I run Eidelon in my burn and it is one of the best cards I ever added.  Think of it this way.....you typically jump out to a huge start of bolting them and what not very early and your life total may be 18 while theirs is maybe 10-12......then you drop this Eidelon and he helps you race.  If they do not get rid of it....then you get a free {shock} each time they play under 4 CMC
