How much money would you recommend taking to a GP? I'm debating how much I spend on modern now and how much I save to play with on the weekend.

Go early day 1 if you can and sell all standard cards you're not using. Shop around, I got a great deal from ivory tower for random conspiracy foils.

Look around at buy list and buy cards low at other vendors and sell them to other vendors for profit!

But how much should I start with? $40? $200?

One place pays $19 trade credit for stormbreath

Another sells LP stormbreath for $13

This is a thing?
Yeah, I had a friend pick up a playset of Brimazs for Friday at a GP, use them, and sell them for $20 profit.

I'd budget if I were you, Truffle. Figure out how much you want to spend, and only bring that much, so you don't overspend. Think: $40 for registration, $10 for new sleeves (you probably want to do this), money for food (up to 3 days, remember its expensive on site), cash for singles, and money for side events.

Yeah, I'd think those people wouldn't be stupid enough to have high enough buy prices and low enough sell prices for that to actually turn a profit for you.
Yes, but each dealer tries being competitive (with buylist and sales prices), there are differences in condition ratings, and sometimes stores try to speculate. I could pick up lightly played Brimazs at the cheapest vendor, and another vendor may grade them at NM and speculate on them, offering a a high percentage. Prices are weird.

Some areas also have higher demand of one card over another. Saw buylist all over the place at GPLA
