Yupp it's quite sad all we have here is a bunch of followers. I wish I could have gone but I was out of town. At least then you would have seen a temur with all the jeskai and abzan.

MuggyWuggy

Azban and jeskai are very powerful. I played 3 azban at a gpt yesterday

ErebOs is very relevant again for SB

VQMracing

I agree they are, but when I walked into the shop they had the list from the last scg top 8 and were copying it almost exactly

Quisequise

Now I have no problem with people playing good decks, but does this top eight reflect a lack of creativity among players?

It seems like they pick the one that looks the best and play it.
Take modern for example.  There's a ton of graveyard hate (relic of progenitous) but people kept playing Jund because value.  So wizards had to ban Drs.  Now they've moved onto pod.  Same thing, instead of finding answers they just play the best deck.  :P

Drs wasn't banned because of jund, it was banned because decks were splashing 2 colors just to play drs because they could

I don't think it's the lack of creativity in players. It's the lack of creativity in Theros block. I've been a brewer for many years and I've always been able to create a deck that's like nothing else in the meta that can compete quite well. This format I've had so much trouble building anything that doesn't at least resemble a top deck. There's no room for play with Theros and until it rotates there with be a strong lack of originality for a while. There's too clear a divide between the good cards and the bad cards to allow any creativity to come through. If you look at all the top decks all of them play the same cards in different variations.

I feel Wx Control is going to be based around all of its spot removal rather than mass.

You have the really janky combo of frogs and anger (or bile blight)

But that's still expensive.

Then we have a turn 4 jeskai ascendancy deck that pretty much stops there as your opponent combos out... That thing is just ridiculous

{Sylvan caryatid} and {courser of kruphix} are destroying standard.

I've been out of the Standard loop for a while, but Courser was a huge reason I quit. It seemed like {Thragtusk}, in a way. If you even considered running green, you'd better have four Coursers, no less. I hate when the format warps around a single card like that. I haven't seen any of the new standard lists, but the fact that someone makes a post like ^ that concerns me.

Actually, last standard, jund monsters played 3. It's just not as good as a Xenagos or domri

Mattao19

Tbh if it wasn't for the new Jeskai Ascendancy Combo deck I wouldn't play standard. Bc right now the meta sucks. It's Abzan Jeskai or Red or Black Aggro. And I hate how control is not viable (trust me I've tried :P) also its a sad day when {U} is the worst colour in standard ... Lol

Ashiok T3 is actually pretty solid in current meta. Have a courser, rakasha deathdealer or carytid defending him, and exile all day.

I'm a huge fan of the deathdealer. I just have a feeling he's going to be really good.
