I'm looking for a cheap place to buy sleeves for my cube. I need 650 KMCs or Dragonshields (I know these come in packs of 100, so 7 packs, but not sure about KMCs). Anyone know somewhere that sells a few packs of sleeves together at a bit of a discount? 7 packs of dragonshields is ~$75 on Amazon, other ideas anyone?

SCG (and I think bulkcardsleeves.com and card kingdom) sell KMC at $7 a pack. Packs are 80sleeves, so you need 8.125 (~9) packs. That would be $63. Thats what I sleeved my cube in, and its amazing!

Channelfireball sells 5 packs of KMCs for $28, so $56 for 800 sleeves.

But then you have to use UltraPro. It's similar to just leaving them unsleeved.

I'd rather keep my money than spend it on ultra pro
I would too, now that I've tried them...

Dragon Sleeves FTW!

That's what I'm planning to get. Anyone know the minimum lands needed for a cube? I'm trying to get my total sleeves needed under 600.

I don't like Dragon Shield anymore. I personally think KMC Hyper MAT are the best. They might not come in a ton of colors; but they're super durable (slightly less then Dragon Shield) dont get dirty instantly, and have a smooth shuffle feel due to the stippled back. They're like the UltraPro mattes with actual durability. They're sort of expensive, but worth every penny if you're sleeving an expensive deck.

I enjoy Player's Choice too. They don't have the textured back like the KMC Hyper MAT, but they too are durable and don't get dirty and cloudy immediately like Dragon Shield.

I had my cube sleeved in Dragon Shield, I hated it. I've since switched every single deck I own to KMC Hyper MAT.

Are they really that good? I like green and blue Dragon Shields but you have me considering actually trying the Hypers.

That seems like a good price.

Buy a pack if you can get them. Try them out on a standard deck. You'll like them. It's got all the benefits of a stippled back and the quality of a premium sleeve. I swear by them. Dragon Shields are good for what they are, which is the next best sleeve. In a world without KMC Hyper MAT, I'd only use Dragon Shield.

I know it is hard to get them sometimes,  but I got my LGS into them. The store owner now routinely sells out of them, as well as Dragon Shield.

I'm not going to rag on Dragon Shield too hard, because they're really durable sleeves, the color selection is amazing and they came out at a time when premium sleeves were really not around. But anyone who has a deck in them knows they A) dont display foils well. B) get dirty and cloudy. C) Really stick together after awhile. I don't have the same difficulty with Hyper MAT.

I enjoy good products. Like many Magic players I spend more time obsessing over my decks then playing them sometimes. I don't mind paying extra money to get the better products because I believe in them. That being said, Ultra Pro stuff doesn't touch my cards. Not their inner sleeves, not their outer sleeves. In the dark days before Dragon Shield I used to sleeve decks in ultra pro. One day I side shuffled a deck of mine, split the sleeves and the cards impacted one another. Instantly going from Near Mint to Slightly Played. Never again.

I've found the Ultra Pro glossy backed sleeves to be pretty good, and I used them on all my decks before I found out about dragonshields/kmcs. I think I'll be switching over to kmcs now.

These are the ones I used to use:
