*Both cards are from AVR*
If I play {Vexing Devil} and my opponent decides to pay the life, can I use {Cloudshift} to exile it before I sacrifice {Vexing Devil}?

loop-s-pool

I do not believe so because the sac can't be intercepted.

No.  They decide on resolution of the ability and if they do take the damage, it will be sac'ed before anyone gets priotity.

Could I use {undying evil} on it as it come into play?

No because of the same reason.  Paying the life is almost the same as countering it.  You could not cast undying evil on a creature you cast that gets countered...the same is true here.

Yes, you can respond to its ETB ability by hitting it with some evil. They'd probably let it resolve at that point. XD

Ohh snap.  But it would be kind of a waste of a card since they obviously would choose not to pay the life and the undying evil would only be guaranteeing a 4/3 for 2 mana and 2 cards....

Well, that's a possible second turn 4/3 that can lay beats to an unprepared player.  They're not going to get a blocker down that can survive 4 damage  or deal 3 in Standard until turn three, unless they are playing {Wall of Tanglecord}, {Garruk's Companion},{Wall of Torches}, {Accorder Paladin}, or {Delver of Secret}s and we already hate him.  I think the paladin might be in some decks, but you can burn him out with a {Gut Shot}.

I like the {accorder paladin} with the new soulbind {silverblade paladin}.  The accorder with double strike and battle cry on T3......*shivers*

In order to pair creatures, don't they both need to have Soulbond? I'm a little confused on the wording there

If u can respond to the etb with undying evil I don't see why u couldn't respond with cloudshift nevermind i see that all it would do is exile him then when he comes back end of his etb happens all over agajn

The reason why using {Undying Evil} was possible in that scenario is because they chose to cast it in response to {Vexing Devil}'s ability triggering to let players choose to take 4 damage. It would not have worked had they said "in response to you choosing to take the damage, I cast Undying Evil".

... But would using {cloudshift} let you do it twice?

Assuming they don't take the damage the first time.

Poof

I'm saying if u cast it in response to vexing devils trigger the way u say u are using undying evil.  Then they wouldn't have a choice right since cloudshift happens first same way the devil would have undying If it works the way u say it would have to happen before they get to decide to take damage
