Would a creature with negative attack power cause a player to gain life, and does it still count as dealing damage?

Thanks!

Maximo

Heh, no, power and toughness don't go below 0. That's be nuts with cards like {Disorient}.

Poof

They can go below zero but it deals zero

Technically, creatures can have negative power. No damage is dealt by having negative power and it doesn't cause life gain.

CR 510.1a Each attacking creature and each blocking creature assigns combat damage equal to its power. Creatures that would assign 0 or less damage this way don't assign combat damage at all.

Poof

Say u had a 0/2 with a negative counter and now u want to pump it's power well its power is currently -1 not 0

It still deals 0 damage.
