Faulty iPhone Data Usage

I have an iPhone 5 that hasn't been updated. Anyways my plan is 6gb a month (awesome I know) anyways I've had the phone for almost 2 yrs and I've never went over the 6gb. Last month I went $500 over they sent me notifications but I was like what this has to be a scam (yes I am an idiot!) anyways we called got it reduced and that was that. But then the guy (who is an angel for reducing the fee!!) said that this month I'm ALREADY at 5.5gb used!! We checked when I used it and it was on the 16th. I told him that's impossible bc my phone died that day ... He didnt know what happened.

So long story short I met an angel on the phone and I'm wondering if any of you had data problems like this?

I'm going to the apple store today to get it looked at. But man it's really weird! We switched my plan to unlimited data so I don't have to worry anymore but my dad was so mad at me!! (As he should be I was an idiot!)

Have you tried the internet before the apple store? The apple store let's me down to oftentimes

How much do you text? How much to talk on it? Do your apps automatically update? Location services? Roaming? All those use data

Tbh idk it wasn't texts on that day bc I checked my phone and it was like 50-60 texts (incoming and outgoing).

Apps auto update? Idk I try to have them not running in the background.

And phone calling I never call ppl.

With app auto update, it doesn't matter if the apps are running or not. What it does is when an app has an update, it will automatically update it for you... Without your permission.

But it only does it when it is plugged in ad connected to Wifi. It does -not- use data.

Not true. Mine updates all the time when I'm at work, whether or not it's plugged in and there is no wi-fi at work. I have to manually go into settings and turn auto updated off
