What are your opinions on getting value cards, or cards in general, signed by their artist? Will that bring the value up or down? Do you guys take it at a card by card basis as to whether a card is worth more getting signed or if it will depreciate? Also what about foils? Are any cards exceptions, cards that you should never have signed?

Anoobass

Other than {bronze sable}, I don't see an issue why signing would depreciate it.  Only reason the sable would is because llama would drop 2k of em on the table and like "I'm your biggest fan, sign my sables pl0x!?!?"

I absolutely need a foil signed {Gluttonous Cyclops} and a foil signed {Ornithopter}
If any of you guys got one, hit me up ;)
But seriously, unless it was already a valuable card, I don't think the value would change that much.

It depends on the person. To dealers, they are damaged and worth less, but many players like signatures. I always get stuff signed.

not all dealers. maybe the majority and most regular card shops but some dealers definitely put at the same or at a premium.

I didn't mean damaged, I meant "damaged". When selling, they are 'collectors cards' and 'rarities', but when they buy them, dealers call them "damaged" so they can pay you less.

My friend actually purchases Heavily Played cards from Star City Games relatively often, and a few times has received signed versions that had little to no aesthetic problems.

For me personally it increases the "sentimental" value, but for the most part it (unfortunately) decreases monetary value. (Yeah I don't get it either, EVERY other collectible on the planet would increase....... What a world).
