Kaworu, the Fifth Child

Well guys, I'm doing a brief hiatus. Not gonna be active, not gonna be doing anything. Not you guys, but my dad is reeeeally abusive because he thinks I'm a "nerd" and all that. Stopping Magic for awhile. I may see you guys back in a few months, but for now... See ya. Ill still be active until this thread is done, though.

I bet his boss is a nerd, and the guy that owns his company, and the people that run the world...
He is the boss :P

Not to bad mouth your dad but I can't stand people like that.  He needs to accept who you are and who you want to be.  I am a father of 2 and I mentioned earlier in another thread that I caught my 6 year old son watching My Little Pony.  He got embarrassed and turned it off.  I told him it's ok to watch it if he likes it because I won't be tgat kind of father.

Mr_Fahrenheit

Yeah I have a three year old son. He can have whatever interests and hobbies he wants (within the bounds of legality and morality of course). Ideally it would be heaps of stuff that I could share with him, like magic :)

Why are people so single minded, I'm sorry to bash on your father but to bully your son because he does certain things you don't like is bull. That is a parent that society resnts today, mits your life not his that's why I don't understand, and I put it in this situation, would he rather you spend your time being a nerd( which you become smarter from due to the increase of knowledge from these games) or possibly be the worst case scenario, you do drugs, and possibly end up dead, than your father would feel really bad cause he knew he took away you hobby so you found a new one and it ended in a bad result. My example just shows, I used to be a heavy pot head, once I started to play magic my money has shifted to magic so has my time and there has been so many instances where I have passed test because of magic, like test your father on definitions that are in magic than you try to make a definition from magic and see who is closer. This just frustrates me to no end when a human has the capabilities to do infinite things limits his mind to one way

I truly, truly despise people like that, that brand you because of a couple certain hobbies. You can do what you want, he shouldn't be able to stop you from being you. I know magic has really helped my life, and I'm betting it's like that for most people my age who play. If he says your a nerd for doing what you do, he should go stuff himself. /endrant

I don't really know you but I'm sorry to hear this.

I live in a small village where the average teen is into sports. So basically I've been an outcast since day one. (I played soccer once and it was hell due to my team mates.) Stereotypes piss me off, anybody that walks into a game store will see more adults than teens (at least where I go). The illogical mess that is suppressing others because you don't agree with them is maddening. Whatever happened to live and let live? It's garbage that anyone has to go through this and I hope you stay strong. He is your father so you do have to listen to him, but that doesn't make what he's doing any less bad.

Luckily for me my parents play magic (or unluckily, my mom hoards cards and is a terrible trader). Hopeful he'll come around to at least let you do as you please. Otherwise save your rare/valuable cards and wait till you move out.

Thanks! That's what it's like in my town too.

How much were you spending on magic?
Not much. Id spend 15 dollars on a draft once a month, maybe every two months, and get a booster pack every couple weeks. Most of my cards I got through trades and a booster box I got for getting straight A-s last year.
