i have in play {Ashling, the Extinguisher}

opponent only have {Geist of Saint Traft} in play tapped

i attacked Ashling, opponent takes damage, Ashlings skill will be nulled?

FustyDavorite

It will not. The player is still a legal target.

Splicer

But he targets a creature that player controls.

Under the rulings for ashling it states that it targets. On ashling it says that player sacrifices 'target' creature. It is an odd one.

Remillo

I mean, you could just read the card's text.  It says 'target creature', not 'that player sacrifices a creature of your choice'.  It's close to what you want it to be, but Hexproof still stops it.  The creature has to be a legal target for you to force them to sacrifice it.

so Geist really is a problem :)

thanks

Remillo

Man, I saw Ashling at first in the first post and I was all ready to say 'Yes!  Ashling's exploding damage gets around Hexproof!'.  But then you were talking about the Extinguisher, not {Ashling the Pilgrim}.

But yeah, Geist is tricky to deal with.  Of course, you could just keep your own 2-power Hexproof blocker on defense to kill it :P

FustyDavorite

Crap. Sorry guys. I swore it said target player. Excuse my language.

Deathstorm

No problem I misread things all the time
