Well if you tell a 'dick joke' it isn't really basing on how polite you are.  Or if you are more polite then people who don't tell them.  It is more to show a state of relaxation in an environment that is without prejudice.  In essence, a dick joke is a compliment.

Sorry I didn't quite finish that yet, I have a parting thought on it.  In the same way that they use it to employ a sense of relaxation, if they don't do it around you, it could also be because they respect you enough that they don't want you to see them make a very crude joke.  There are two sides to the coin.

If I tell a dick joke, it's because I expect enough people around me will know its a joke. I'm very polite, but around friends I could be considered volger. That's why, for the most part I keep it between friends. I see people on this forum as friends, so... Dick jokes!
