Can you use {Aether vial}  to cast your commander in commander format?

If your commander is in your hand sure

Edit* guess I should also say that commanders are in the removed from game zone. Completely different from hand, graveyard, battlefield etc.

It IS possible to get you Commander to your hand  ({Unsummon}ed from the battlefield), and to replay it with {Aether Vial}, but you can't put it into play from the Command Zone.
