what will happen first

i attacked {Zur the Enchanter} then searched {Gift of Immortality} and opponent blocked it with a 6/6 creature, of course Zur will die, but while opponent declared blocker, i choose to attach the Gift of Immortality to Zur, im kind of confused of the timing cuz i want Zur still in play.. thanks

Once attackers are declared, Zur's effect would go on the stack and resolve before the declare blockers step. Gift would already be on the field and attached before your oppenent can declare a blocker.  So if zur would die then he would come back.
