Tips on bulk cards

I am looking into buying lots of magic cards. The reasons being that I really don't have much before the current standered block and was looking to get more cards into my pool to build fun decks and to just enjoy. Value is not my main goal but I am not looking to just but junk.
I was hoping to get tips, stories and some ideas on the best ways to go about this.
