No on the soul conduit at 0 - once your life total hits 0, that's it. You're dead and gone long before you would receive priority again in order to activate the conduit's ability, let alone getting to resolve it.

You actually would receive priority before you die.  Now you can't do anything, but still you do receive priority.  (Assuming it's not your opponents priority)

And that syrup analogy was amazing!

116.2d: State-based actions happen automatically when certain conditions are met. See rule 704. They're dealt with before a player would receive priority. See rule 116.5.

You will lose the game before you receive priority.
