I don't think it works. You're paying mana for arcanist's ability, not the exiled instant/sorcery.

Nope. You're never actually casting the card. Just exiling it and then making a copy via {Elite Arcanist}'s ability.

you are casting it "you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost" so cards like guttersnipe should work the cost itself though is for the ability, not the spell

There was a guttersnipe combo a few days ago, it was infinite, as the sorcery kept getting back from GY, somehow

Wait! Elite arcanist with triton tactics allows you to pump a creatures defense to absorb a big trampler.

{U}{T} {elite arcanist} to cast {triton tactics}, target a creature you want to block with and the arcanist! they both untap, repeat until happy or run out of mana

give a mana producer {illusionist bracers} then use the Arcanist/triton tactics combo or unlimited mana then pump the blocker :3
