Part of good Magic playing is not playing "on tilt" constantly. I don't know if you're interested in playing at a high level, but it's one of the key things you must overcome.

What exactly do you mean by "on tilt"?

I don't play on going super competitive for this very reason. I'm far too vested in having a good time and playing the game. Nevertheless, I've played against many very mature, very classy advanced players and they have never offered to be so rude as doucheman. My point: exterminate the douches and leave the rest.

MuggyWuggy

I'm a complete noob at my LGS and ran into plenty of unfriendly douches while playing.

I've just learned to not get so upset if I lose and to learn every game.

Now Im the guy causing them to not get ranked :), game day mats don't scare me :)

Steerpike

Kill em with kindness i say, if not for kindness sake, then because you know it irritates them ;)

Gorzo

I feel your pain, LG. Players like that are just no fun to play with.

LadyGrixis

Thank you Gorzo. I knew you'd understand <3

I hate the rude players... I play FNM once every 4-6 weeks. Each time it is a different deck, but same colors. Rude players are like "you rarely play, but every time you do, you Top8. That isn't fair to the people who play every week!"
And I've been getting that a lot lately on Cockatrice when I play my modern Merfolk and I'm constantly taking down "tier one" decks constantly 2-0. They get beat, say "next time play a real deck" and kick me from the game.
I even had a bogle player do that when I casted a turn two spellskite, which I play main deck...

One of those rare moments where you can say "haters gon' hate"
Then moonwalk out of the room
...or the server, as the case may be

I will admit get visibly angry when I get mana-flooded at the worst possible times, like if I drew any card other than a land I win, but I topdeck lands like a champ. Other than that I'm usually pretty chill.

I don't think anyone can fault you for that. I'm one of the most play-for-fun-and-fun-alone players out there, but mana screw still frustrates me. I want to play and have a fun match, not sit there and do nothing! I get just as disappointed when my opponent gets mana screwed, too. I'd so much rather lose in a fun game where we both play well than win because my opponent just had bad luck draws.

I used to be rude and get butthurt during matches, but now I go into tourneys with a smile on my face and its a much better experience! I'm sorry you dealt with a d bag. That's no fun :(

I told the girl I faced first what happened and she was like "Yeah, I think he's a sexist when it comes to who he thinks should and shouldn't be playing Magic." Said she went up against him another time and the same thing happened. So now I'm just like "Really!?! It's because I've got lady parts??" Turrible.

I've encountered this. Mainly when I first started. Almost everyone I played my first time at FNM was rude bc I was new. Funny thing was, I had been playing for 2 years before my first Fnm and knew what I was doing. Ended up taking second and making a lot of "regulars" mad. Nothing is better then beating a cocky net decker than beating them with a janky homebrew with mad synergy. The look on their face when you sweep them is priceless. It happens less now tho...I don't play Fnm much but at my lgs they know when I show up I'm most likely going to be in the top 3, so I get a little more respect.

Ditto. I took a hiatus from magic starting at legions I believe. Came back in at Dark Ascension. Decided to go to the LGS one Saturday night because I knew one of the co-owners from my yugioh days. Asked what they were playing and it was a Peasant tournament. Everyone else was like "who the F are you?" they probably thought I was a noob cause I had brought every card I had owned at that point with me. Which was a duelist toolkit 2012, two R/G dark ascension intro decks and a dark ascension fat pack. I would up splitting first/second with my pile of standard peasant cards when everyone else had near unlimited access to everything else. All I know, everyone underestimated me and my {ambush vipers} that night!!
