Ay so lets say I swing all out
{Azorius charm}
Use ability to give everyone lifelink
Oh what's that I also have {archangel of thune} on the field.

So does lifelink count for each creature individually or as one big bag of life resolved somewhere in the damage step?

You'll get a trigger for each creature that dealt damage.  As far as the game sees, if you have five creatures with lifelink, you're gaining life five separate times, causing the Archangel's ability to trigger five times.  After damage is dealt, these triggers go on the stack, and your team will grow pretty darn big.

Thank you. I had a feeling that was how it went but now I can build with affirmation!

Just in case you're looking for a ruling to confirm:

118.9.: Some triggered abilities are written, "Whenever [a player] gains life, . . . ." Such abilities are treated as though they are written, "Whenever a source causes [a player] to gain life, . . . ." If a player gains 0 life, no life gain event has occurred, and these abilities won't trigger.
Example: A player controls Ajani's Pridemate, which reads "Whenever you gain life, you may put a +1/+1 counter on Ajani's Pridemate," and two creatures with lifelink. The creatures with lifelink deal combat damage simultaneously. Ajani's Pridemate's ability triggers twice.

If one of those creatures has double strike.
Would the second strike have all the counters from all cases of thune going off during first strike or just his own?

When double or first strike is involved in combat a second damage step is observed, any triggers, state-based actions, and a priority pas will be observd before moving on to the next damage step.

If 3 creatures dealt damage with lifelink in this first damage step then 3 sets of counters will be placed on the creatures before moving on to regular damage.

I've been doing it wrong this whole time.. I always thought you only got multiple counters for first strike combat and regular combat no matter how many creatures with lifelink is swinging!

Edi: and people already hated my deck when I was doing it wrong!
