If I cast something like {clone} on a creature of the {door of destinies}' chosen type, does that count as casting a creature of that type or is that a shapeshifter I cast?

If not, is there any way at all to copy a creature and put a token on that door??  Or at least some way in general to get one token on that door just to start? I'm thinking of a living weapon deck xD germs!!!

Sorry to be a ballbuster, but Clone is a shapeshifter on the stack, when it is cast (and when door of destinies checks it).

It isn't until Clone resolves that it enters the battlefield as a copy.

What about cards like {ameboid changeling}? The changeling effect says they're all creature types at ALL TIMES. So would they count as the door's chosen type before it hits the battlefield?

Yes changeling + door is a thing.

Think you meant put a counter on the door.

{mutavault} will not add any counters because you don't cast it. However, it will benefit from the number of counters on door.
