I have a question on  {Cabal Therapy} and  {Meddling Mage}; when this is played by an opponent, do they name the card first before it resolves or they name it after it gets resolved?
Do I get to know the named card first before I decide whether to counter??

Naming a card for {Cabal Therapy} happens during its resolution, as shown in its Gatherer ruling:

10/4/2004 You name the card during resolution, then your opponent reveals their hand and discards if appropriate. There is no way for your opponent to do anything between you naming the card and them discarding.

Unfortunately, this means you cannot know what they're choosing until it is too late. A lot of people like to shortcut through this, and name the card as soon as they play it, which can be a big tactical error. Letting your opponent know what you're naming too early is generally a bad play.

If you're planning on countering {Cabal Therapy}, you'll have to do it blind I'm afraid, unless the opponent makes the mistake of blurting it out.

Another side question on  {Detention Sphere},
If this is in play, will it detain the same name permenant which is newly summoned into the battlefield?

Kaleo42

Nope. The exiling only happens as part of the ETB, it has no static effect.
