Weird splitting hairs rules question

If you have a creature fight another one. And it dies, did it die from a source an opponent controlled (the damage from there creature)?

The " source" of the damage would be controlled by an opponent, yes

Yes. Damage from a creature is a source under that creature's controller's control.

That sentence sounds horrible, but hopefully it makes sense
