Everyone at FNM said {U}{B} Control is gonna be a big deal with {Thoughtseize} coming back.

Thoughts?

Cause I really hope it is :)

That very well may be the case. However it is losing {Nephalia Drownyard} (Most BU control lists run 3-4), which is actually the way it usually wins against control. It really depends, will BU get a boardwipe or not? That is the main question. We already know that no good counterspells exist. And control used to be defined by a deck that runs 4 counters. Now it's a deck that runs 4 boardwipes. Just goes to show how wizards is pushig creatures.

I agree. A list that got 3rd last friday at my LGS ran {Opportunity}, and it was pretty much as effective as {Sphinx's Revelation}, especially vs. other control decks (it won against American control). However it did run drownyards, and also a full playset of {Devastation Tide}. Hard to say just yet what decks will be good when not half the cards are spoiled though.

Personally, I hope all colors get good control options in this set. The meta really needs to slow down. Else the power level might run wildly out of control on the cards

{Read the Bones} is nice but a lot of people (including me, last night until a friend pointed out it was a sorcery) overvalue it. It is only sorcery speed which can make or break a card, like {Dreadbore} was broken by its speed. If {Dreadbore} would have been an instant it would have been a must-have card and played in eternal formats whenever you had the two colors, but being at sorcery speed killed it.

{Quicken} can make {Dreadbore} & {Read the Bones} awesome, I've even been thinking about a Grixis deck utilizing {Quicken} to make those and {Rakdos' Return} a viable combo.

The only good cantrips are those that block and those that are instant. Spending your turn to draw some cards is a death sentence for control. However it is starting to look like there are less ETBs and more in play effects. This could make sorcery spells playable.

Yeah, {Quicken} is undervalued right now, but with Theros trying to force back to mono-color a three color Grixis is going to be difficult. Also you need to have both {Quicken} and {Read the Bones} or whatever in your hand, which won't be the case every time you need it.

Yes I understand needing both but at .90 cents I'm gonna put the deck together and test it out.  But a {3} cmc for instant speed destroy PW is value, don't forget to draw that card :)
