Hey everyone, i am relatively new and am look to build a vamp standard based around nocturus. Let  me know what you think. I know i need better land option ( gates ect.) but i am not sure which one. And if you see any card flaws let me know. Thank to all in advance.

Talock

I like it fun and themed but you need something in there in the event of board wipes something like {Undying Evil} or if you splashed some green you chould use {Golgari Charm}

Themvp22

I am a little worried about that... But i feel i need to stay mono black to maximize nocturus. I also wonder if the risk to reward of adding red vamps would be worth it for the same reason.

Mike_garzone

Add red, it opens up {stromkirk captain}, {Olivia voldaren}, {falkenrath aristocrat}, {stromkirk noble}... I could keep going lol. As far as avoiding board wipes, you could splash white and red for either {legions initiative} and/or {boros charm}. BWR vamps is quite fun right now, it's my favorite themed deck currently :)

I like the idea of red and i havent even thought of adding white ( which i will now )... However adding red or any other color may kill having noctunus in the deck do to the necessity of black. It is difficult to weight the options cause i have never play red vamps. I would apperciate the input

Wally

All the vampires mentioned are red and black, so they still work with nocturnus. Also lands are colour less no matter what you can tap them for, so adding red mana should not really effect your decision. Only mono red(or white) cards will hurt him.

I see what you are saying... I am play testing a splash of green right now... Dont think i should do both red vamps and green protection so i will have to test them both. Once the inns. Block and m13 rotate out of standard i am not sure if tribal vamps will stay viable.  Not that many good vamps in m14...Not really sure what direction i will go at that point... Will have to see what the other set bring.

I like the thought of splashing white in {B}{R} vamps. You could even just use shocks like {Godless Shrine} and {Sacred Foundry} so it isn't a dead draw if you have no {Legion's Initiative} and/or {Boros Charm}. And {Boros Charm} is super sweet anyway!

The more i look at the white splash the more i like it... Going to have to play test it an see how it roles... Any ideas of a direction aftrr dark assention ( ect.. ) rolls out of standard?
