Anyone listen to it. I like the album a lot. My favorites are: Blood on the Leaves, and Bound 2.

I thought it was meh. I listened to it the first week it came out, and haven't listened to it since. It didnt instantly strike me as brilliant like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy did the first time I listened to it.

Kanye has been going down hill since College Dropout

Now he's super angry and talking about him and Kim kardashian. *golf clap*

Riveting music.

Double-O-Scotch

Gah!!! You said her name! Please refer to her as "she who will not be named". I can't stand that iMtG could potentially be used to further the fame of such a putz. Best to just ignore her.
GAHHHHHHHHH! I feel tainted now...

I agree. Starting with Watch the Throne, he was pretty much "No one likes me, but look at all this money I have. Time to get super serious." Twisted Fantasy was pretty much "Im an .rearexit., now listen to these artsy beats and Pusha Ton without Malice" but it wasnt as braggy as hip hop typically is. That's why i dont listen to as much mainstream hip hop. How can i relate to someone showing up in their other other Benz? One album of high end French designers and artists is enough for me.

On Yeezus, the one-liners are there (arguably some of his best,) and the instrumentation is still ambitious, but that's not enough to save it. As you said, it's too angry, serious, and braggy.

Yea seems hitting that sign on his head made him really mad. The beat to bound 2 and blood on the leaves is just really catchy lol

Hey, um...ima letchu finish, but... Uh...Beyonce's album was the best I've ever SEEN!

Not as good as MBDTF,  but a great effort. I love the new direction he took with minimalism and the house driven beats. Lyrics delivered as usual.

I KNOW YOU'RE TIRED OF LOVIN, OF LOVIN, WITH NOBODY TO LOVE, NOBODY, NO-

UH HUH HONEY ;)

Patrician AOTY 2013

I know we're only halfway through the year, but ...Like Clockwork has my vote for AOTY. So good.

New Kanye is complete trash. It's got way to much praise for being "revolutionary" or on "another level". Meanwhile underground hip hop groups that do it: Deathgrips and CX KidtroniK have been doing it better, and longer, for years.

It's a cult of personality surrounding Kanye, he isn't a bad artist. The "Yeezus" album is rushed, lyrically trash, and not even good at the type of music he's attempting to emulate. Generally speaking, everything is inevitably derivative of something else: I've rarely seen anything that attempts to replicate an existing style of hip hop but doesn't acknowledge it's existence. It contains all of the trappings of Underground hip hop, and because Kanye did it - it's hyped because he's a "genius".

Also, everyone I've talked to says "Bound 2" is their favorite song. You know why? Because its actually the only Kanye song on the entire record. Because no one is better at replicating the actual revolutionary sound of Kanye but him - the rest of the album is trash. Death Grips exists, listen to "Takyon" and pay Yeezus no mind. It's funny how many folks praise the album, and their favorite song is the one song that a) has meaning and feeling behind the lyrics. b) doesn't sound anything like the rest of the album. c) sounds like a Kanye West song.

The stories surfaced that Kanye recorded the lyrics for 3 of the tracks in 2 hours before he had to leave*, days before the record was due. It's "The Emperors New Clothes" as far as I'm concerned. Lyrically it is him gloating about how famous he is, real moments of introspection are non existent and he seems like he actually buys into his own hype - it is weaksauce compared to other Underground hip hop.

*Rick Rubin: "The album was to be turned in two days later. Kanye was planning to go to Milan that night. Five songs still needed vocals and two or three of them still needed lyrics. In the two hours before he had to run out to catch the plane, he did exactly that: finished all lyrics and performed them with gusto." Rick Rubin saying that is meant to seem endearing - a sort of "look how little time he put into it, and this is the end result: Genius!" IMO it sounds every bit of that 2 hours. Rushed, stream of consciousness over "minimalist" beats that were designed to be minimalist, not because of the artists particular proclivity. Someone trying too hard to be different, while other artists who actually are different are making the music that Kanye's been attempting to co-op.

I agree with DC. It's just not a very good album. Death Grips already put out three albums of "minimalist house-inspired beats." Kanye isn't doing anything new but everyone wants to give him credit for it. I was very disappointed with it. But considering I hated Watch the Throne and Cruel Summer, I shouldn't be surprised.

Also, Y NO PUSHA-TON?!
