All I can suggest is {Tandem Lookout} as an additional combo piece for Niv-Mizzet, and {Long Term Plans} as a combo piece tutor.

{Long-Term Plans} can make it into the deck but what to replace?

Hmm... Tough call. What are you copying with {Copy Artifact}? Is it there just to copy {Sol Ring} and whatnot, or is there a combo with it that I'm missing?

I usually copy {Duplicant}, {Staff of Nin}, or my play groups many {Wurmcoil Engine} so it's not doing much. So I could replace that with {Long-Term Plans}.

Him in combination with {Mystical Tutor}, {Ponder}, etc onto something like {Time Stretch} seems pretty damn good.....

I run a EDH very similar to this, and the firemind is one of my favourite. I could almost develop a tan from the glares of hate when this decks sleeves come into view.
