More Land too.  Leveling is very mana intensive, so you are not going to want to miss a land drop.  21-23 would be my starting point.

What are you going to do about board sweepers like day of judgement and other removal like doom blade?? I don't think mana leak will be enough.

I like {Coralhelm Commander}. I have him in a competitive level Legacy deck. He's a cheap flyer, and even of you don't have Merfolk - they'll buff each other if you have more then 1.

I agree but not with the choices. I suggest something more consistant and cheaper than venser. {conjurers closet} will allow you to each turn put counters on. Also as someone else mentioned, proliferate is amazing at speeding up my level up deck.
