{guttersnipe} {nivmagus elemental} {talrand, sky summoner} Nothing infinite, but an awesome synergy.

is the spell still cast even though it never left the stack (assuming you used nivmagus)

Subiskier

Try {guttersnipe}, two {goblin electromancers} {ghostly flicker} and {archaeomancer}. That's infinite damage

Well, as long as the instant Isa one drop so you can cast it for free.

You'd exile and return 1 land and archaeomancer... Return the ghostly flicker from {Archaeomancer} trigger . Pay 1 recast flicker.. Repeat

But my question..  Is  {Ghostly Flicker} in the graveyard when  {Archaeomancer} is brought back onto the battlefield, or is flicker still in the stack?

Still in the stack, I bet.

Correct. Flicker isn't done resolving until the creature is returned to the battlefield. You could make this work by having a 2nd flicker, one for on the stack, and one to be in the graveyard to target with the mancer

Wally

No it does work.

As the flicker resolves it goes to the graveyard. The resolution of the spell is to bounce two things.

Archeomancer sees the spell, returns, go again.

The other option is to use {Gilded Lotus} if you do not have the electromancers. I ran these combos in a deck when they were first spoiled. (also included Talrand, and a hand full of X burn to the face, etc)

You sure? Can you post rulings for me to confirm that? I'm looking at:

608.2k: As the final part of an instant or sorcery spell's resolution, the spell is put into its owner's graveyard. As the final part of an ability's resolution, the ability is removed from the stack and ceases to exist.

If the -final- part of resolving the spell is removing it from the stack and putting it in GY, how is the flicker effect resolving -after- that?

MementoMori

Archaeomancer's ability won't go on the stack until Flicker is fully resolved. That means it should be a legal target.

Wally

Check out the only ruling for  {Archaeomancer}

Aha, that's where I'm wrong! Many thanks! Figured it went on the stack as it entered (while the spell was still resolving and wouldn't be in the grave as a target), but this little quirk explains it! +1 to both of you for showing me the light ;)

But wouldn't archeomancer's ability go on top of the stack because its a triggered ability?

When he enters battlefield it's triggered. That's why you can grab  {Ghostly Flicker} again and the recast it. Exile   {Archaeomancer} and a land... Land returns untapped,  {Archaeomancer} returns and triggers...

Rinse and repeat
