Is it possible to use a card say {Tainted Sigil}
When after I just summoned a creature another player used   {Searing Spear} along with  {Guttersnipe} to bring my life to zero is there a chance between searing spear and guttersnipe to use tainted sigil's effect?

Crisys

If you activated signal after those searing spear, it would resolve first and you would not have lost life yet, therefore I don't think it would save you.

That is my understanding of the stack, i might be wrong, but since this isn't in rules I don't feel to bad speculating

So I am assuming this is the situation:
- you are at 5 life
- nobody has lost any life this turn.
So here is what happens:
Your opponent plays {Searing Spear}, targeting you. This triggers {Guttersnipe}'s ability. The stack looks like this:
TOP
Guttersnipe 2 damage ping
Searing Spear
BOTTOM
Here is what you can do:
In order for anything on the stack to resolve, both players must pass priority (not add anything new to the stack). so let Guttersnipe ability resolve. You are now at 3 life and have lost 2 life this turn. Now the stack looks like this:
TOP
Searing Spear
BOTTOM
Instead of passing priority and letting this resolve (like you did with the Guttersnipe ability), respond to Searing Spear by cracking your artifact. The stack looks like this now:
TOP
Artifact ability, which will make you gain 2 life
Searing Spear
BOTTOM
Your opponent it hopefully out of instant speed burn spells now, and cannot do anything. You have nothing else to do also, so you both pass priority, causing your artifact's ability to resolve. You now have 5 life again. Yay! The stack looks like this now:
TOP
Searing Spear
BOTTOM
Again, both players have nothing new to add the stack in response to Searing Spear, so thy pass priority. This causes the spell on top of the stack to resolve, which is Searing Spear. You take 3 to the face, leaving you at a comfortable 2 life.

This wasn't the exact scenario but the one I had was very similar an they were saying that I had lost but I was insistent that my sigil would've been able to go off. Idk. Starting to rather dislike Casual games -.-

It's just when the people I play with dont understand the more intricate rules of the game. I mean I don't truly understand them all either but...yeah. It's just no fun -.-

Oh the stack between friends. That's always a friend breaker lol

Indeed the constant arguments of who's spell resolves first :/

The best way to explain it is the "PLATE OF PANCAKES" explanation I heard from {gorzeyeto} once.

I found the stack utterly confusing until it was explained to me in this fashion.

+ 1,000,000 to {gorzeyeto} for enlightening me exponentially.

Gorzo

I believe the plate of pancakes was a Coffee Vampire explanation. Possibly Keyeto. I know it wasn't me, which is a shame, because I love this analagoly and I love pancakes.

'twas CV! It's a solid explanation, that I had to steal (with credit, of course) when I wrote the FAQ section for Rules. No better way to explain it, as far as I'm concerned!

Looks like I got some work to do with my thumb and the "like" button, CV. Much respect. Best MtG explanatory analogy I ever hear and it's helped me explain the stack to alot of my meta and more importantly, my wife.

It is interesting that {Foresee} enlightened you

Just read the "pancake stack" explanation. Haha the "nasty pancakes that the other pancakes don't want to be next to" best analogy ever xD
