Why helavaut?
Because you could exile your gatekeeper, borderland ranger, ect. Then exile the helvault and find more gates when it leaves and they come back onto the field.

My question is why cards that look for basic lands? And copy creatures?

Better option to helavaut is  {Deadeye Navigator} for a repeated effect.
