EDIT: NVM, seems it was already announced in the sticky that my tired mind did not see. Ignore this and refer to the sticky for more information or discussion.

In their defense, this box isn't truly meant for you to go and buy a whole box of. It's meant for drafting. And if you go in splitsies with friends so you can mock draft, it gets cheaper. On top of that, the box prices are stupid. Each pack MSRP at $6.99. At 24 packs per box, that's $167.76 before tax. You decide what the better option is.

I'm buying three and only opening 1, I'm gonna sit on 2 for a couple years.

The only game shops that will sell these for MSRP are none, ever. Unless they were foolish and did pre-orders before they knew about allocations or what was in the set. Also, demand will be so high for these boosters that I seriously doubt there will be enough product for any game shops to do much drafting, if any.

My shop is doing a first come first serve "near-msrp", they're basing their prices off of what SCG is buying boxes at. Should be getting mine at around $170 each.

My LGS isn't selling any at all. He's using them specifically for the draft. He's doing a round of 4 drafts, the winner from each draft will play a single elimination game in the modern format, and the winner gets a box. But several others I know are selling them at MSRP. There's no need to gouge the prices when they are pretty much going to sell quickly.

{Dark Confidant} sells for about $17 on Magic Online. With Modern Masters not being redeemable for the paper set, I could see him and {Tarmogoyf} dropping pretty drastically. Pretty crucial reprint for the Online players.

300 a box here :/
35 bucks for a draft.
Jesus dude, my other LGS is holding nothing but drafts for MM, no pack sales whatsoever. They're only charging about $23 a draft though...

MuggyWuggy

$230 for a box here
First come first serve, no reserves

I think waiting on this set to be spoiled is good though, if its not that impressive I may skip a box, if it is impressive ill probably buy a box to horde away and just do a few sealed drafts

Bman0121

It will make modern staples like  {Tarmogoyf} and  {Dark Confidant} drop probably 5 to 10 bucks but fetch lands could easily go up by 5 to 10 bucks as well because they arnt getting reprinted and modern masters is for players to get into modern so people will need more fetchs

For Digital, probably. Paper won't see a price change of more then a few bucks. They aren't printing enough Modern Masters. Doing the math, which I did in another thread, probably somewhere around 220,000 {Tarmogofy}/{Dark Confidant}

My lgs is only ever doing 2 drafts with MM. I've been told that they will not be selling boxes in a whole at all they will only be puting them on sale for MSRP per pack.

"The goal of Modern Masters, as announced by Wizards is not to dump the price of Tarmogoyf, but instead introduce supply up to the levels of current Mythics. The original print runs were very small in comparison to the amount of players currently in the game.

Highlighted in the article is that some 268,000 Tarmogoyf printed compared to a some 1.1 million Deathrite Shaman (both rares at time of printing). It is unlikely 832,000 Tarmy's will be printed (it has been reassigned to Mythic), some simple arithmetic will show us were likely to get around 225,000 or so new Tarmogoyf - not really close to a sufficient number.

While nearly doubling the amount of Tarmogoyf available for all, they may actually fall into the right hands (tournament players who would use them) and packs aren't likely to be bought by the casual and non-modern players. I for one will not be purchasing any Modern Masters, nor do I truly have any intentions on doing so - I don't play modern."

Quoting myself.
