Say I have a  {Attended Knight} out. If my opponent were to cast  {Murder} on it and I would respond with a  {Cloudshift} or something similar would he still destroy the Knight? I say yes as the knight would be back before the murder resolves.

If that is the case, is Cloudshift only good for retriggering ETB or LTB effects?

The flickered creature is for all purposes a new creature. Murder will not go off because the creature it originally targeted no longer exists. Below is a link to this information.

The {murder} was targetting a knight which left the field. When {Cloudshift} resolves, another knight gets in the field. He is considered a totally new object in the game. Any ETB and LTB effects would happen, all counters are removed, anything caring about hat card won't see it anymore. Which means {murder} will be targetting something which doesn't exist anymore (the knight which left the battlefield), and thus fizzles cause it has no legal target.


TL;DR:

It would not kill your knight. Once a card leaves the battlefield and renters, the game sees it as and entirely new card.

Your opponent plays  {Murder} on your  {Attended Knight} then you respond with  {Cloudshift}

So first in last out on the stack. Your cloud shift resolves, exiling your creature, and then it's murders turn to find it's target, it can't find the original knight it targeted so it "fizzles"

However, cloudshift and other flicker will not save your creatures from board wipes, such as  {Damnation}. Due to your creature coming back while the wrath effect is still happening.

Wouldn't cards that stated to return it at end of turn save it from the wrath effect. ie {Flickerform} or {Legion's Initiative} since your creatures reenter in a different phase?

Nope. They will be exiled and come back to the field, then the board wipe will go off. They exile and come back in the same phase.
