Early morning weekend traffic

I commute to work from 6am to 7am on Saturday and Sunday.  Driving to Newport Beach, CA for about 25 miles I find that many people are driving in excess of 100mph.  I typically try to reach anywhere from 75 to 85mph, and find 100mph to be excessive.

I was wondering, has anyone else experienced such aggressive driving during this timeframe?  Do you commute to an urban area, or a rural one?  Do you find 100mph to be excessive?

I used to drive in a very rural area to work around 530-6, speed limits roughly 55 mph. I would normally go about 65. But a lot of people would go much faster. Almost was in multiple collisions because people would slam on breaks just to stop in time. It just seems more people rush it and try to get some place last minute than on time. In my opinion anyways.

Ill admit that when I got my new bike I went ~80 on my way back to school, but that was a 3 hour drive and I wanted to see what it could do. Otherwise, on my daily commute, people do their best to go as fast as they can, which utterly bewilders me

Man, I wish people would do that!  Around here, the speed limit is 55, so people go 45-50.  I usually stay about 5 mph over the speed limit, but sooo many people drive 5 mph under -_-

Wow.  Around here if you drove that slow and you aren't in the "slow" lane you will get honked at, passed aggressively, and likely get into an accident.

I love my small town. Any job is 15 minutes away from any home. We DO get the occasional crazy going 26 in a 25 zone but that's the exception, not the rule 😉.

I wish it was easier to pass around here.  Going down the highway, there's a lot of curves and little hills that make it so you can't see if there is a car coming or not.  That's what frustrates me lol.  Although, my biggest driving pet peeves is when people get on the interstate going 30 or so.  The on-ramp is there so you can get up to speed and not get hit by oncoming traffic, not so you can creep onto the interstate, then hit the gas a little.

That's just crazy, what freeway do you drive?  I can't imagine people driving that fast on PCH.

57s to 5s to 55s to 73s

It's been like this for at least the past two years I've been on this shift.

Yikes!  I've seen people going pretty quick on the 57s thru San Dimas, ya know down the hill. But 100mph is just crazy.

I'd say the stretches on PCH between Newport and HB and also between HB and Seal Beach are easy to hit 100 on.

Just depends your car, if I'm driving at 80mph my car is barely working itself

On Sunday at 6pm I was commuing back and hit 75 on the 55.  Got passed by at least 6 cars, a mustang cobra and an exotic audi doing at least 90... Weaving in and out of traffic.

Driving fast is an opportunity rarely afforded to the New York commuter. I'd love to drive 100 freely.
