Look at the first ruling of {Phyrexian Hydra}. Does that mean that if you can't prevent the damage by -1/-1 counters it is dealt normal damage?

I have this combo in my sideboard for a deck because it looks pretty boss; however, I just need to make sure it works so I don't blow all my $$$ on this expensive card

The Hydra says if damage would be Dealt prevent it...... So it is pretty boss
And the First effect is the Standard infect which doesn't refer to the Hydra but the damage it deals

You're correct. It means the hydra cannot be killed by combat damage. Needs a removal spell
