We here in the northwest also refer to carbonated beverage by its appropriate title of pop. Except for my wife from California. She uses the philistine vernacular of her people and calls it soda.
Hahahaha I'm from Florida and I call it both soda or pop depending on my mood lol

Barzini

I've lived in California all my life and haven't heard a single person refer to soda as pop.

I've been to Cali a number of times and ya, go into McDonald's and ask for pop and they look at u funny, also, plum sauce is not sweet and sour, it's the sauce from plums..... That was frustrating getting Chinese food there

I live in Indiana and I only know one family that calls it soda. It's always been pop for me.  And Mike, I tell distance by time too.  It's easier than remembering the number of miles.
What's a mile? lol

As I've heard it:

West Coast = Soda
East Coast = Pop
South = Coke (shudder)

Sorry, but I cringe at the thought of:

"Two cokes, please."
"What kind?"
"1 Sprite and 1 Coke."

🙈

I live in PA, everyone calls it soda except my dad whos from georgia calls it coke

When I asked for pop in Texas they thought I was inquiring about purchasing illegal narcotics :P

Bozo_Law

I call it soda pop... why not both?!

Bahaha!  "Can I get a large pop?"  "Yeah, as long as you keep it quiet and come around back where no one can see" :P

Well despite Canadians reputation for courtesy, we don't ask for pop. We just take it to the counter and pay for it. (Then hold the door for some lady and her kids...)

I try to be as courteous as I can. I am usually the last one in or out of a door in most cases.  I hate it when people are jerks just because they can be.

As an American, I think miles are stupid and we should be on the metric system.

Lord Its Hard to be Happy When You're Not Using the Metric System.

Langku

No kidding Mike and Bozo. I'm going to insidiously replace inches, yards, feet, and miles with metric in my classroom.

Mikefrompluto

It's way easier than our system and makes so much more sense. The fact that we're in 2013 and haven't adopted it yet is mind boggling.
